Live Captions for Discord, Games, and Voice Chat

Want to read what other people say in Discord? Start with the audio you hear through your PC’s headphones or speakers: select system audio in Aurora. The microphone is your own voice. Aurora shows captions in a local Windows 11 overlay without adding a server bot. Before buying, check your language pair and the product requirements.

Why It Fits

Want to read what other people say in Discord? Start with the audio you hear through your PC’s headphones or speakers: select system audio in Aurora. The microphone is your own voice. Aurora shows captions in a local Windows 11 overlay without adding a server bot. Before buying, check your language pair and the product requirements.

1. Identify the source: listen to a sentence arriving from Discord and select system audio in Aurora. Speaking into your microphone checks a different input.
2. Choose the preset and languages before starting. Maximum Compatibility accepts English audio and runs on CPU; for other routes, check Maximum Quality’s language catalogue. Its GPU is optional and it has CPU fallback.
3. Try a short check before the game: listen to a known sentence and compare the text. If you hear speech but nothing appears, check the sound output and selected source before changing translation settings.
4. Distinguish the issue: if text appears but does not match the speech, check the source language and audio. If the transcript is correct but you need another language, check the target and its availability in the preset.
5. Check the mix you will actually use: music, games and voices may share PC audio. System capture does not promise to isolate Discord or separate each participant.
6. Place the overlay clear of controls and check readability on your PC. Click-through mode lets clicks pass through. Accuracy and delay depend on audio, languages and PC load.

FAQ

Do I need Aurora just to read the conversation?

Try Windows 11’s built-in live captions first with Windows + Ctrl + L. Consider Aurora if you need its configurable overlay or a local translation route supported by your languages and PC. It does not guarantee correct recognition of every voice.

Why do I see my words but not Discord’s voices?

Check which input you selected. Voices you hear from Discord need system audio; your microphone is a different source. Also check where Discord plays its sound.

Does Both show my voice in the overlay too?

No. In experimental Both mode, microphone events stay in Session Activity and outside the overlay. Do not choose it expecting both inputs in the overlay.

Can I use Aurora while gaming?

The overlay can be locked in click-through mode to let clicks pass through. Check position and readability in a short session with your actual setup; a demo does not establish compatibility or performance with every game.
