# Aurora Subtitles — full product information

Aurora Subtitles is a Windows 11 x64 desktop application published by IliciLabs. It captures Windows system audio, microphone audio or Both (experimental), performs local-first transcription and translation through the selected route, and presents captions or translations in a configurable click-through overlay.

## Processing and presets

Maximum Compatibility is designed for CPU-only use. It accepts English audio and translates it into 51 published target languages without requiring a GPU. Maximum Quality uses a separate set of 51 selectable languages, uses GPU acceleration when available and falls back to CPU automatically. Actual performance depends on the PC, audio complexity, language pair and local model.

### CPU translation targets

Maximum Compatibility uses English as the source language and offers 51 released translation targets. The current product language list is the canonical source for the exact destinations.

Maximum Compatibility does not expose the same list for both selectors: the source is English and the published list contains its translation targets. Maximum Quality has its own language selector and should not be described as sharing this catalog.

The core caption and translation pipeline is designed to run locally on compatible PCs. Internet access may still be required for checkout, activation, license validation, downloads, updates and model downloads. Aurora does not use monthly subscriptions or per-minute cloud credits for its core caption pipeline.

## Audio and overlay behavior

System audio uses the Windows audio workflow; microphone capture is available as its own source. Both is experimental: microphone events remain separate in Session Activity and are not sent to the overlay. Experimental anonymous speaker distinction is session-scoped, CPU-only, stores no voice identity and uses no VRAM. The overlay is configurable, click-through and intended for live sessions.

## License and support boundaries

Aurora is an Early Access, one-time purchase. The license is lifetime for the current Aurora Subtitles product and includes Early Access updates. Final price and local currency are shown at checkout. Requirements and downloads are published on the product site.

Aurora is not a mobile, macOS, Linux or browser-only app. It is not a certified medical device, legally required accessibility accommodation or professional legal, medical or conference interpretation service. Captions and translation quality are affected by audio, model, language and hardware; IliciLabs does not publish a comparative accuracy or latency guarantee.
