Before asking Aurora for help, decide what context you want to share

Decide before the sensitive part begins

If a conversation contains information you cannot send to an external service, do not ask the assistant to use it to draft a reply. You can consider Aurora’s local captions separately from connected help. Not every phrase you understand needs to become a query.

Aurora Subtitles documents a core caption, transcription and translation pipeline designed to run locally on compatible PCs. Its optional assistant takes a different route: transcript or translation text, microphone utterances and user guidance can be sent to Codex/OpenAI. It requires internet, a Codex account and access with available usage limits.

Two preparations for one fictional meeting

Imagine discussing an example project. The first part explains a general expression, “leave room for review”. Decide whether you need an explanation and whether sharing the context the assistant would use is permitted.

The second part includes private names and details. Your decision may change. Do not assume writing “without names” in an instruction removes session data. A live assisted session uses joint recent system-audio and microphone context, with the pipeline running and Both selected.

If sending that information is not authorised, omit connected assistance in that session. To prepare a reply without those details, you can write your own general fictional example outside the private conversation. This suggestion does not assert that Aurora has a selector for sending only one line or certified context deletion.

Before requesting a reply

  • Decide whether you need to understand the phrase, ask for clarification or propose a response. Understanding it may be enough.
  • Check whether recent session context includes anything you cannot share, beyond the visible phrase.
  • Review your guidance and profile: these can also contribute information to the optional feature.
  • If you use it, read the suggestion before saying it. A proposal does not establish commitments or facts.

Automatic advice is off by default and manual Propose reply is available. Pausing advice while transcription continues controls assistance; we do not describe it as guaranteed deletion or data isolation. A local OGG recording does not establish which text has been sent to the assistant either.

Check the scope you will buy or use

Aurora is an Early Access product for Windows 11 x64. Its license does not include or guarantee Codex/OpenAI access or unlimited assistant use. The local core can still require internet for activation, validation, updates and model downloads.

Read the capabilities and boundaries and current requirements and downloads. This guide supports preparation; it does not certify compliance with your organisation’s policies or verify a real session.
