No suggestion arrives: check whether you chose manual help

Manual mode waits for your request
If captions keep moving but no suggestion appears on its own, check the help mode first. Aurora documents manual assistance as the default: you can use Propose reply or Ctrl+Enter. Reading captions does not mean automatic advice is enabled.
That resolves one expectation, not every possible failure. An explicit connection, access or account-limit error needs its own diagnosis; changing the mode does not remove it.
Before trying the shortcut
The current Aurora facts describe live assistance with the pipeline running and system audio plus microphone selected in Both. Internet and a Codex account with access and available usage are required. Local captions and optional assistance are separate functions.
Check in this order:
- Whether you want assistance or just captions. You can keep reading alone if that meets your need.
- Whether the assisted session meets its requirements: running pipeline, Both and available account access.
- Whether you chose manual requests or automatic cadence. They are different actions.
- What the states and any actual error say, rather than inferring a result from elapsed time.
Do not repeatedly press the shortcut as proof that the account is connected. If an explicit error appears, retain its wording and check that dependency before requesting more suggestions.
A rehearsal with a clear request
Fictional home example: you play a practice question and want help preparing a reply, but manual mode is selected. After checking that the transcript matches the question, request a proposal through the documented control. This is a suggested use sequence; it does not claim a result was obtained on your computer.
When a proposal arrives, read which question it answers and which facts it attributes to you. If the question continued while it was being prepared, check that you are not answering only an earlier part. You do not need automatic advice to address that mismatch: wait until you understand the request and choose when to ask.
For automatic help, choose the timing
Aurora offers configurable cadence and silence delay, and can pause advice while transcription continues. Silence does not establish that someone has finished; the setting governs when help is requested, not when a conversation has been understood. The guide to pauses within a question explains that distinction.
Assistance can send transcript or translation text, microphone utterances and your guide to Codex/OpenAI. An Aurora license neither includes nor guarantees that access or unlimited usage. Check the current requirements and download. The Windows Live Captions and StreamVox guides, read on 26 October 2026, describe other workflows; they do not define Aurora’s manual mode.
