Looking for a phrase? Check the filters before clearing activity

Keep the activity and narrow the view
To reread a phrase from your session, start with Session Activity filters and autoscroll. CLEAR activity is not a filter: decide whether you need the text you are consulting before using it. Preparing a review does not require clearing the activity.
Aurora’s public reference documents four filter categories, autoscroll and activity clearing. It does not describe keyword search or a permanent transcript archive in this view. This walkthrough concerns reviewing what remains in your session.
Review with one specific question
Imagine a fictional audio test: you hear “we will review the draft” and then speak yourself. You want to check the system-audio phrase before drafting a reply.
- Identify the source you need: system audio or microphone. A phrase’s wording alone does not identify its speaker.
- Narrow the visible categories using the available filters. If you cannot find the row, broaden the categories before deciding it is missing.
- Check autoscroll if incoming rows keep taking you away from the passage. Changing how you follow the activity does not establish transcription accuracy.
- Read the surrounding context. In this example, “will review” describes a future action; it does not establish that the draft is approved.
This is not a recognition test with real speakers. Check important quotations against their original source and ask for clarification when you cannot verify them.
Session text and recording are separate decisions
Aurora offers optional local OGG recording of the selected source. ON starts recording and OFF finalizes it. Seeing a phrase does not mean its audio was recorded, and filtering text does not retroactively choose the recorded source.
In Both mode, microphone events remain separate in Session Activity and do not go to the caption overlay. Your contribution being absent from the overlay therefore does not establish that it is absent from the activity. The product facts explain this experimental mode’s boundaries.
Compare the task before choosing the tool
Consulted on 24 October 2026, Windows Live Captions help describes its caption experience, while Otter’s conversation view describes a reviewable transcript and highlights. These are different workflows, not evidence that their filters match Aurora’s.
For reviewing a local Aurora session, prepare a harmless test phrase first. Then check requirements and downloads. Aurora is Early Access for Windows 11 x64. This article does not establish accuracy, permanent archiving or interactive acceptance.
