The audio is Spanish: the target selector does not change Compatibility’s English source

Write down the language pair before choosing a preset

You want to listen to a Spanish video and read English. That means source: Spanish; target: English. Choosing English as the target does not make that audio a supported Maximum Compatibility input: this preset’s CPU route accepts English audio. For the reverse case, English speech and Spanish reading, the source matches; you still need to check the target available in your version.

Aurora publishes 51 translation targets for Maximum Compatibility. Maximum Quality has its own selection of 51 languages. Do not swap the lists or infer that a target in one route is a source in the other. The official product facts explain this distinction.

Prepare a four-decision note

Before changing more settings, record:

  • Which voice to capture: system audio, microphone or experimental Both.
  • The language that voice is speaking.
  • The language you need to read.
  • The preset and language selection your installation offers for that route.

A planning example: “Known English test video; system audio; Spanish reading; check target in Maximum Compatibility.” If you later switch to a Spanish video, revisit the note. Text appearing in the earlier test does not establish support for the new input.

Check one known source

Use a short familiar excerpt you have permission to play. Listen and compare one sentence with the output. If another language appears, first check the pair and selected audio source. If words are missing, retain the example and also inspect noise, overlapping speech and the model; language is not the only possible cause.

Maximum Quality can use an available GPU and fall back to CPU automatically. That does not guarantee speed or a correct translation. Check its selectors and current requirements before choosing it for a source outside Compatibility’s English-input route.

Separate microphone input from the audio being translated

In Both, microphone events remain separate in Session Activity and are not sent to the overlay. Microphone speech is transcribed in the target language and is not translated. Speaking Spanish into the microphone while expecting an English translation therefore does not reproduce the system-video translation route.

The optional assistant is another separate feature, with its own network, account, access and usage requirements. You do not need to enable it to check the language pair.

Choose for the route you need
