The audio meter moves: you still need to check the words

Signal and text are separate checks
When an audio meter moves, you still need to read the transcription to check the words. A VU meter is not an accuracy test, speaker identification or confirmation of the correct language. Ask which sound you want to follow and which text appears for it.
Aurora Subtitles shows a VU meter and lets you choose system audio, microphone or experimental Both. This guide proposes a simple check, not an accuracy measurement or hardware benchmark.
Choose a harmless phrase with a known reference
Prepare your own short recording without personal information, containing a known phrase such as “The blue folder is next to the window.” To check system audio, play that file and select the system-audio source in Aurora. To check your microphone instead, select microphone and say the phrase.
Check the selected route and languages before interpreting the result. Maximum Compatibility takes English source audio; it is not a universal input-language route. The phrase above provides a known English example. Consult the official processing options for the route you use.
Compare content rather than movement alone
Play or say the phrase, then compare the completed text with your reference. Record concrete observations:
- “The meter shows activity; no complete phrase appeared” preserves two observations without assigning a cause yet.
- “The phrase appeared, but it says door where I said window” identifies a specific difference to review.
- “The expected phrase appeared in this check” describes this example only, not the next conversation.
If reading a translation, compare the intended meaning in the target language too; do not expect literal reproduction of the source phrase. For PC audio setup, consult the WASAPI guide.
Keep checks separate while adjusting settings
Check one source at a time and retain the same phrase while reviewing configuration. Both is experimental: microphone events stay separate in Session Activity and do not go to the overlay. Do not expect microphone translation either: it is transcribed in the target language, as documented.
For support, describe the source, route, languages and specific discrepancy without sending a private conversation. Use the official contact and current download to check support and requirements. Aurora is Early Access for Windows 11 x64; performance depends on the computer and audio. An arriving signal does not guarantee recognition of every word.
