The video is paused and the caption has passed: prepare a review you can repeat

A person reviews a laptop beside headphones and a notebook, with no readable display.

Return to the segment before filling the sentence from memory

If a caption passed too quickly, return to the original video and replay the segment. Note which part you missed and compare it with the available audio and picture. Optional local recording can preserve the selected audio; it does not turn Aurora into a video editor or guarantee a correct transcript.

This procedure uses a video you recorded and can review. It does not presume permission to record other people. The cover is an illustrative scene, not an Aurora screenshot.

Give your check a beginning and an end

Imagine your own clip explaining how to sort materials: “The red pieces go in the blue bag.” You want to check whether a caption preserves both colours. This is an authored example, not a measured program result.

In an external note, write your clip’s name, the player’s position where the sentence begins and your specific uncertainty. That reference belongs to your review method; it does not claim Aurora synchronises automatically with video or exports timestamps.

Choose what to hear and what to keep

Aurora supports system audio, microphone and experimental Both. To review a video playing on the PC, choose system audio and check that the caption pipeline is running. Select a mode and languages appropriate to the audio and hardware. Maximum Compatibility accepts English audio; do not assume every mode offers identical source languages.

If you want to preserve an audio take, explicitly enable local OGG recording. ON starts it and OFF finalises it; it records only the selected source. Both records system and microphone, so it is different from saving only the clip. You can perform the review without recording.

Replay and check the uncertainty

Return to the position you noted in your external player and listen with the surrounding context. Compare the displayed sentence with what you can actually verify. In the example, inspect the pieces and bag if visible, and listen for both colour words. If uncertainty remains, keep it open or return to your original script. Repeating the same transcript does not provide a new source.

Session Activity lets you inspect session text and apply filters. If looking for the segment, check the visible categories before clearing activity. Do not treat a translated sentence as the original voice.

Preserve a reference rather than artificial certainty

Audio > Sessions lists recordings and can open their folder. Save As copies a recording while retaining the original. An OGG copy preserves audio; that action alone does not include the video, its edits or human verification of the text. Playing it in another player is an external step.

Write “Checked against original clip: red pieces, blue bag” only after verifying it. Otherwise note what remains missing. Aurora is Early Access for Windows 11 x64; quality depends on audio, language, model and PC. The optional Codex assistant has separate network and account requirements from the core local pipeline.
