You need captions, not a recording: prepare Aurora for a meeting without OGG

OGG recording is a separate choice
To follow a meeting through Aurora captions, you do not need to enable its optional OGG recording. Before joining, check the audio source and recording control. If your intention is not to create a new audio recording of this meeting, leave recording unenabled; do not confuse that choice with stopping captions.
This does not mean all session text disappears or that earlier files are deleted. Text activity, audio recording and optional assistance have different purposes and limits.
Rehearse with your own material
Imagine a fictional work meeting where you agreed to use captions to follow the conversation without saving an audio recording. Before joining, you can check the workflow using your own audio without third-party information:
- Choose the source you need to read. Aurora supports system audio, microphone or Both. For sound played by the meeting application, check the system source; do not assume selecting the microphone captures the same thing.
- Check recording status. Documentation describes ON as starting recording and OFF as finalizing it. If you already started, switching OFF finalizes the file: it does not undo the recording or delete it.
- Check caption words. A moving audio meter does not establish that you selected the right source or understood the sentence correctly. Try a sentence you know and adjust the setup if it does not match.
- Review optional assistance separately. If you only need local captions, do not enable connected assistance by habit. It uses Codex/OpenAI and can send conversation text and your guide; its account, access and internet requirements are separate from Aurora licensing.
This is a proposed procedure for your own check. It is not a test of your computer, meeting or particular configuration.
What each choice retains
The official Aurora facts page documents the local caption, transcription and translation core, session activity and optional OGG recording of the selected source. Both can record system and microphone audio; microphone text remains in activity and outside the overlay. Do not select Both assuming it only adds what you see overlaid.
Audio > Sessions lists recordings and lets you open their folder or save a copy. If a previous file exists, do not assume OFF deleted it. Likewise, disabling recording does not make text activity nonexistent. Avoid routinely exporting or sharing a session: first check what it contains and what you agreed to use.
Let the next step follow your need
If you need a recording for later review, that is another choice to prepare with the people involved. If you only need to read today, focus your check on the source, caption words and leaving recording unenabled. Recognition or translation errors remain possible; ask for an important instruction to be repeated when needed.
Aurora is a paid product for one compatible Windows PC. Check its official facts and the product’s download link for requirements and licensing before installing. This guide explains the separation of controls; it does not guarantee the absence of files outside Aurora or verify settings in other meeting applications.
