Aurora Subtitles continues to improve so more people can enjoy live captions and local translation without relying on a dedicated graphics card. The latest changes strengthen Maximum Compatibility, the mode designed to run directly on the computer’s CPU.

A smoother experience on modest PCs

The work focuses on a simple goal: keeping captions flowing and preserving the meaning of each phrase during a conversation. Aurora now makes better use of the available resources and prepares the system before a session begins, reducing unnecessary waiting at startup.

We have also refined how words appear while someone is speaking. This helps captions feel more natural when sentences are short, speakers pause, or a voice becomes quieter.

No new learning curve

You do not need to learn new controls or tune complex settings. Maximum Compatibility remains the recommended option for PCs without a dedicated GPU when the source audio is English and the target language is supported.

The improvement happens behind the scenes: choose your audio and languages, start Aurora, and keep using the overlay as before. Results can still vary with the processor, audio quality, and other activity on the PC, but the experience is designed to remain steadier across a wider range of computers.

Local privacy and clear requirements

The main speech and translation workflow continues to run locally. Internet access may be needed to activate a license, download models, or install updates, but Aurora does not need to send your audio to a cloud transcription service to create captions.
