Keep reading without suggestions: pause Aurora’s advice

Pause the help you no longer need

You want to keep reading a conversation, but no longer want suggested replies. Aurora’s documentation distinguishes pausing advice while transcription continues from stopping transcription. Identify which outcome you need before ending the whole session.

Consider a meeting that changes pace: first you want help preparing an answer, then you simply want to listen. This is an invented work scenario, not a recorded meeting test or a promise about caption quality.

Ask two questions before using a control

Do I still want session text? If yes, do not use transcription stop as a substitute for advice pause. Check the session state and the control associated with the optional assistance.

Do I want to stop processing or sharing information? That requires reviewing audio sources and assistant use. Advice pause must not be interpreted as a privacy mode that erases earlier text, stops all capture or revokes access. The cited documentation does not establish those guarantees for that pause.

The core caption, transcription and translation pipeline is local. The optional assistant is a separate network route that can send session text and the guidance described in the product facts to Codex/OpenAI. An Aurora license does not include or guarantee assistant access or unlimited use.

One session, three specific decisions

Imagine this sequence:

  1. Prepare a reply. Check that the optional help you want is configured, then review the proposal before saying it. Appearing on screen does not make it a commitment.
  2. Listen to a long explanation. Pause advice because you no longer want to answer each phrase, while retaining the transcription you need to follow.
  3. Ask for help again. Decide whether a manual request is appropriate. Aurora documents manual Propose reply and Explain, Respond and Shorten help on completed non-microphone rows. That does not mean every row or state provides the same options.

Automatic advice is disabled by default. You need not enable it merely to pause something: if you never used it, first establish which function produced the help you saw.

Advice, microphone and captions are different

A live assisted session requires the pipeline running with system audio and microphone selected in Both mode. Both is experimental: microphone events remain separate in Session Activity and do not reach the overlay. Microphone audio is transcribed in the target language, not translated.

None of that makes advice pause a microphone mute button. Review audio settings when you intend to change capture. For sensitive conversations, check the product’s boundaries rather than inferring privacy from a control’s name.

“Pause” means different things across products

The official Pluely and Rylo guides, checked on 23 October 2026, describe pausing transcription. Their behavior cannot be transferred to Aurora’s advice pause.
